Franziska Rosenzweig Princess Florine with Noboru Mitzukami, Guesting in Japan in 1993

Franziska as Princess Florine with Noboru Mizukami as Blue Bird, Saporro, Japan, 1993

This workshop is aimed at beginner ballet students who rarely get a chance to learn a solo at their skill level.

We are going to learn the variation of Princess Florine of the Blue Bird Pas de deux from the ballet The Sleeping Beauty.

The steps will be simplified to an achievable level and spaced in a way that you can get a feel of rehearsing and dancing a solo in the confined space of your home.

What To Expect

We begin the workshop with a warm-up barre leading us to a brief centre work that prepares elements of the solo.

After a short break, we start learning systematically:

  1. choreography of the legs

  2. choreography of the arms

  3. musicality

  4. performance aspects

The recording of the workshop will be made available for 6 days after the workshop so you can continue to work on the solo in your own time or learn with the recordings if you cannot join us live.

If you cannot wait, check out my Swan Lake Pas De Trois Video Workshop.

Who Is The Workshop For

As a guideline, I would think you should have at least six months of weekly ballet training. You may

• be new to learning a ballet piece

• find other workshops too fast to follow

• less agile

I expect you to:

• struggle with memorising unfamiliar sequences

• perhaps getting frustrated when trying to learn a ballet piece

• love to experience the feeling of dancing a 'real ballet piece' but it is just so overwhelming

This piece is a traditionally female part, however, if you are a male ballet student and would like to join, you are very welcome too.
