Level: intermediate (minimum: you should be able to follow my beginner & intermediate online class on Saturdays)

This Easter, we will be focusing on the role of Myrtha from Giselle. We will use the version performed by Ekaterina Kondaurova as the basis for the workshop, making adjustments as necessary. Additionally, I would like you to perform the finale of the Dance of the Willis (3:53-4:22) and offer anyone interested the opportunity to dance the Myrtha section (3:16-3:53), which you will have to learn and practise independently.
Myrtha offers a wonderful chance to explore character and musicality, with a focus on lyrical elements as well as classical grand allegro. The combination of romanticism and powerful movement makes her a particularly rewarding role to study.
Across the workshop, you will develop both the technical clarity and the dramatic presence that bring Myrtha to life, while making full use of the spacious studio setting. It is an opportunity to challenge yourself, refine your artistry, and enjoy embodying one of ballet’s most commanding figures.
Closer to the time, you will receive a pre-study video to prepare for the workshop. We will make modifications to suit our skill levels.

What To Expect
Together with other enthusiastic amateur dancers, you are going to experience a rehearsal situation similar to that in a professional ballet company. You will get the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the choreography before the intensive through the pre-study video I create for you.
