Remembering and mastering steps in ballet is one things, co-ordinating feet and arm movements, as well as upper body and head positions adds many more dimensions and transforms an exercise into a dance.
In past workshops and in regular classes, I explained certain rules, do's and don'ts, of port de bras. The trouble for students is, that there are many different options the teacher or choreographer can choose from and learning which ones are right or wrong can be confusing.
People who practise ballet continuously since childhood, have a natural feeling which arms work with which leg movement, similar to recognising whether a pirouettes is en dehors or en dedans.
Although, some amateur adult dancers find it relatively easy to coordinate their body in its entirety, most do struggle, a lot, even after many years of training.
This workshop offers the opportunity to practise the coordination of the arms and legs in static situation, e.g. at the barre, adage in the centre, and whilst travelling in the studio, e.g. tombé-pas de bourrées
To benefit as many sincere students as possible, the workshop will be taught at beginner and intermediate/ advanced levels. You can choose the level(s) you want to participate in. You can also swap during the workshop if you find an exercise too easy or too challenging.
