This workshop introduces you to the main principles and teaching style of the Holistic Ballet method, created by Franziska Rosenzweig.
It is aimed at:

ballet teachers that want to add to their expertise

(ex)dancers that consider teaching ballet classes in the future or are already teaching
-
contemporary dance teachers with experience in ballet that want to acquire knowledge of ballet teaching
In a small group you are going to:
-
discuss anatomical issues
-
analyse the Holistic Ballet class structure
-
learn teaching tools to visualise ballet principles
-
create your own exercises based on the Holistic Ballet
method idea
intermediate class at Danceworks London
The workshop classes are based on the Holistic Ballet class DVDs Level 1 and 2, which you are going to practise at your current ability. You can choose whether you would like to join or to observe the classes taught at Danceworks on day 2.
The Holistic Ballet teaching style is suitable for serious young dance students of 10+ years, semi-professional and professional dancers, and for amateur adult students.
To attend this workshop you must be 18+ years and have a minimum of 5 years of ballet training.

Day 1:
10:00 - 10:15 am arrival
10:15 - 10:45 principles of Holistic Ballet
10:50 - 11:00 beginner warm up
11:00 - 12:00 beginner class 1 barre
12:00 - 12:10 break
12:10 - 12:40 discussion
12:40 - 1:30 lunch (not included)
1:30 - 1:40 intermediate warm up
1:45 - 2:45 intermediate class 1 barre
2:45 - 2:55 break
2:55 - 3:25 discussion
3:30 - 4:30 lesson planning ideas
Day 2:
10:00 - 12:00 beginner/ intermediate class 2 barres
1:00 - 2:30 beginner class at Danceworks (participating or observing)
2:30 - 4:00 intermediate/advanced class at Danceworks (participating or observing)
4:15 - 5:00 discussion
The price includes Danceworks' day membership and Franziska's classes.

Further days can be added on request to either deepen the understanding of the beginner and intermediate levels and/or to progress to the advanced level and pointe work, as well as to impart lesson planning and psychological aspects of teaching ballet.
